Magdalena Lembovska and Sonja Zuber participated at the Workshop on Financial Accountability of Intelligence Services on 22-23 November in Skopje, Macedonia.
The workshop is part of the Framework Project Fostering Parliamentary Oversight of the Security Sector in the Western Balkans launched by DCAF (Geneva Centre for Democratic Control of the Armed Forces) where Analytica is associated partner. The workshop was bilateral event with the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia and brought together Members of the Parliament, particularly from the Committee for Supervising the Work of the Security and Counter-Intelligence Directorate and the Intelligence Agency and the Committee for the Supervision of the Application of Communication Interception Techniques.
At the event, Magdalena Lembovska presented the on-going research for a Comparative Analysis of Regional Practices in Ensuring Financial Accountability of Intelligence Services. The research will be completed at the beginning of 2013 and its final beneficiaries are the representatives of the both parliamentary committees (mentioned above). Other speakers at the event included representatives from state institutions from the region relevant for the topic.
