Research Fellow Ana Stojilovska attended on 11-14 October 2012 in Zagreb the first EFB Community Conference. Under the motto “People, Ideas and Networks” the conference represented platform for networking and exchange between the EFB Community members and EFB partners for the purpose of creating links for future cooperation. The EFB Community members are the grantees from the Western Balkans of the EFB programs: Leadership Development Program; Fellowship Program for Policy Researchersч and Fellowship Program for Young Government Officials.
The discussions included the rising power of the social media tools, different pressing issues concerning the Western Balkan countries and the EU as well as the future activities of EFB. The participants’ and speakers’ profiles varied from policy researchers, students, journalists, civil servants, civil society activists, consultants etc. The conference was organized in plenary sessions; auction sessions which were proposed by the participants themselves; and practical workshops based on the open space technology technique where participants created and managed their own agenda. At the conference building up and nurturing the community of strong individuals to bring changes in their countries was pointed out to be essential.
